Title: National Account Manager
Location: REMOTE: Must reside in the company’s footprint –OH, MI, IN, KY, OK, SD, ND, WI, IL, IA, MO, NE, MN, or KS
Pay Range: $80K-$100K Base plus Bonus/Commission

Our client is a leading distributor of wholesale residential and commercial building materials who is adding this position due to their rapid growth over the last 5 or so years.

Position Summary

  • As a key member of the Commercial Sales team, you will have the opportunity to develop and drive national accounts sales strategy to grow profitability and market share.
  • Reports to Vice President of Commercial and National Account Sales.
  • Develop and maintain key customer and supplier relationships.
  • Oversee assigned national accounts with responsibility for retaining and increasing sales.
  • Develop and adhere to National Accounts sales, margin, and expense budget.
  • Strive to achieve and exceed sales, margin, and expense goals.
  • Provide sales forecasting and progress reports as needed.
  • Provides direction, motivation and training to the cross-department national accounts team, especially sales.
  • Manages national accounts with KPI’s and other metrics. Constantly improves its effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Will help with directing supplier, product, marketing, and operations decisions with respect to national accounts including custom offerings for accounts including private label.
  • Consistently review and educate team on price and margin direction/policies to the national accounts team as directed by the Vice President.
  • Continually update current market, customer, and competitive feedback to the company and its suppliers.
  • Partner with all key accounts and help set up and participate in major customer events and key supplier events and meetings.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Ten years sales and/or sales management experience with personal sales accountability of $5 million for at least five years.
  • Experience in mid to large sized companies required with company sales of more than $50 million preferred.
  • Experience working with major accounts and long cycle selling
  • Experience with product management, marketing and customer service required.
  • Experience in flooring strongly preferred. Tile experience is a major plus.
  • Experience in distribution preferred but manufacturing experience is acceptable.
  • Must reside in the company’s footprint –OH, MI, IN, KY, OK, SD, WI, IL, IA, MO, NE, MN, or KS.
  • Able and willing to travel 50% of the time.
  • Must haves include interpersonal skills, leadership skills, analytical, well organized, collaborative, and excellent verbal and written communicator.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft applications is required including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint.
